The Hound of the Baskervillesย is the third of the fourย crime novelsย by British writerย Arthur Conan Doyleย featuring the detectiveย Sherlock Holmes. Originallyย serialisedย inย The Strand Magazineย from August 1901 to April 1902, it is set largely inย Dartmoor,ย Devon, in England’sย West Countryย and follows Holmes andย Watsonย investigating the legend of a fearsome,ย diabolical houndย of supernatural origin. This was the first appearance of Holmes since his apparent death in “The Final Problem“, and the success ofย The Hound of the Baskervillesย led to the character’s eventual revival.
